At Merkavim, caring for the environment is much more than a general principle. With its manufacturing plant situated directly over Israel’s main underground water source, the company is extremely aware of its responsibility for protecting this critical natural resource in particular, and the environment in general. Collaborating closely with public authorities, under the supervision of Israel’s Ministry of the Environment, Merkavim implements strict environmental policies, leaving no room for error:

The plant uses production processes that generate minimum quantities of industrial waste
Industrial wastes are transported away from the plant
Materials used in production processes are friendly to the environment
The buses’ stainless steel bodies require no polluting anti-corrosion treatments
Welding and painting systems are connected to controlled filtering systems that remove poisonous gases and particles from the work environment
The entire plant is lit by special light bulbs that save energy and do not damage the ozone layer
Strict safety regulations, along with high quality protective equipment, eliminate health hazards and ensure the workers’ well-being
