Community

Merkavim views its commitment to the community as highly important and places much effort into maintaining a strong connection with Israeli society in general and particularly with the local communities around the factory.  Merkavim offers its assistance to educational organizations and to those in need, and maintains an ongoing and direct connection with the community. School children often visit the factory, where they enjoy the opportunity to learn about industrial procedures and get a behind-the-scenes look at the operations of a manufacturing company. The company also operates workshops for the Israeli Prison Service, in an effort to assist in prisoner rehabilitation. Additionally, we make an effort to integrate persons with disabilities into our staff, enabling them to earn a living respectfully while promoting the company's success as all other employees. We are committed to continuously finding ways in which to help and contribute to society, through a variety of activities and resources, and to open our gates to many people who wish to join us in our endeavors.

Ambulance Restoration
At the end of World War 2, numerous prisoners were released from their camps and transferred by buses operated by the Swedish Red Cross. This is one of the 36 ambulances to enter Germany in March and April 1945 and remove 27,000 prisoners, including thousands of Jews, mostly women, transferring them from Germany to Sweden.  This ambulance is currently on display at Yad Vashem Museum. Merkavim volunteered to renovate this vehicle, while maintaining its original form.
