At Merkavim, caring for the environment is much more than a general principle. With its manufacturing plant situated directly over Israel’s main underground water source, the company is extremely aware of its responsibility for protecting this critical natural resource in particular, and the environment in general.

Environmental Policy

The management of Merkavim is committed to the environmental affairs in all company activities
The management is committed to meet or exceed all applicable government
requirements and voluntary requirements to which Merkavim subscribes.
The management efforts to continually improve minimize environmental effects.
The management sees in the process of distribution and guidance concerning the awareness to environmental protection, which is meant to keep the nature for us and for generations to come.
Every employee and contractor of Merkavim is expected to follow these policies.

Environmental affairs and activities

Collaborating closely with public authorities, under the supervision of Israel’s Ministry of the Environment, Merkavim implements strict environmental policies, leaving no room for error:

The plant uses production processes that generate minimum quantities of industrial waste.
Industrial wastes are transported away from the plant .
Materials used in production processes are friendly to the environment
The buses’ stainless steel bodies require no polluting anti-corrosion treatments
Welding and painting systems are connected to controlled filtering systems that remove poisonous gases and particles from the work environment
The entire plant is lit by special light bulbs that save energy and do not damage the ozone layer
Strict safety regulations, along with high quality protective equipment, eliminate health hazards and ensure the workers’ well-being
